Again and again

I would’ve loved you through every storm,

but you stopped reaching back.

I held you like a secret—

something the world could ruin

if they looked too closely.

I tried.

again and again.

when you broke,

I bled.

when you pulled away,

I reached further.

but love shouldn't feel like

begging to be let in.

and maybe this is what heartbreak is:

still loving someone

while slowly learning

you can’t save them

if they won’t let you.

it hurts.

because I didn’t want to let go.

but I also can’t

keep catching you

if I’m the one

who keeps falling.
